Stonegate is one of the newer development communities in The Irvine Company in north-central Irvine, California. The borders of Stonegate are quite well-defined, being marked by Portola Parkway to the north, Sand Canyon Avenue to the east, Irvine Boulevard to the south, and Jeffrey Road to the west.

Stonegate’s western boundary is also traced by the Jeffrey Open Space Trail, which connects to the Hicks Canyon Trail and southward towards Oak Creek Golf Club and Cypress Village.
Stonegate’s neighbors are similarly planned and designed communities in north Irvine, including
Northwood and The Groves (northwest),
Orchard Hills (north),
Woodbury (south-southwest), and East Stonegate (east).
Route 133, the Eastern Transport Corridor toll road runs past East Stonegate, a short distance from Stonegate proper, and the I-5 runs west to east a few minutes to the south of Stonegate. These two main routes connect Stonegate quickly and conveniently to locations around Orange County, including Newport Beach, Corona del Mar, Laguna Beach, and Costa Mesa.
John Wayne Airport is approximately 15 minutes from central Stonegate, and
central Newport Beach is around 30 minutes away.
Stonegate itself consists of a number of densely organized residential enclaves, distributed around 8 parks, and Stonegate Elementary School situated in the center of the community.

The largest homes in Stonegate extend just over 4,000 square feet in size, while the most compact residences are around 1,400 square feet in size. The premier park in Stonegate is certainly Stonegate Park (as the name suggests). This facility has two basketball courts, two tennis courts, a beach volleyball court, a large play area, and a ballpark, all adjacent to the excellent Stonegate Elementary School.
For even more entertainment, as well as shopping and services, the Woodbury Town Center Shopping Mall is only a few minutes south of Stonegate. This shopping plaza is home to numerous places to eat, convenient stores, a bank, and more.
