Big Canyon is a gated, golf-course community located in
Newport Beach, California. Situated on the east side of Upper Newport Bay, Big Canyon is just north of Corona del Mar, and southwest of the University of California, Irvine.

Big Canyon is situated within the area circumscribed by San Joaquin Hills Road, MacArthur Boulevard, Jamboree Road, and Ford Road in Newport Beach CA.
The community itself is accessible at two points along San Joaquin Hills Road, which form a loop road through the community called Big Canyon Drive. Smaller clusters of homes and villas dot the outside of Big Canyon, with separate gate access. These include Sea Island (northwest) and Big Canyon Villas (northeast).
Within Big Canyon proper, there are more sub-communities, like Fairway and Deane.

Homes within the central Big Canyon area are sprawling, stately constructions, each with a distinct custom look and feel. Those on the outside ring tend to be smaller in size (though still large by ordinary standards) and conform more uniformly to a modern California style. Big Canyon Villas at the northeastern corner of the community has been built with a distinctly Mediterranean flair.
Big Canyon homes display a range of architectural aesthetics, including designs inspired by eastern-coastal styles like Cape Cod and Shingle. Another common style on display is Spanish Revival.
Luxury homes within Big Canyon occupy the higher-end of the Southern California real estate spectrum. A number of these homes are more than 6,000 square feet in size and would place on the market at more than $6,000,000. These same homes boast golf course frontage, perfectly manicured grounds, and resort-like pools.

Big Canyon Community Features & Attractions
The biggest community attraction in Big Canyon (besides the beautiful homes) is undoubtedly the Big Canyon Country Club & Golf Course. Established in 1971, this is a private, invitation-only club offering world-class golfing facilities, like a 3,500 square-foot chipping green, and a 14,000 square-foot putting green. The club's 60,000 square-foot clubhouse includes a pool, tennis courts, and dining.
Other amenities within Big Canyon are the two community parks (Deerwood and Royal St. George).
Outside of Big Canyon, residents enjoy their close proximity to
Newport Center, the University of California Irvine, and the beautiful beaches of
Newport Beach and
Corona del Mar. Trails connect the community to Big Canyon Nature Park to the east. This park and nature space has undergone extensive revitalization since 2016.
Residents of Big Canyon also benefit from the general ease of access to the surrounding area. Although they're not in walking distance of the beach or any village center, a short drive puts residents of this community in Irvine, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Newport Center, or the University of California Irvine.
